Many fans became sad after finding out that the 2020 Olympics wouldn't be held due to the

COVID-19 pandemic. Many wondered if the games had been completely cancelled or just postponed. On March 24, 2020, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced that the games had just been postponed and will be held by the summer of 2021. (nbcnews.com)

The head of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) and Abe agreed to delay the Olympics over a phone call since many worried about safety due to the pandemic. Abe also said that the games will be like the light at the end of the tunnel and symbolize humanity beating Coronavirus.

The games were supposed to be held from July 14 to August 9. This was also the first time in almost 80 years that the Olympics were canceled or postponed. Many fans are relieved to know that the games are still going to be held sooner or later.
