Former first lady Michelle Obama is celebrating today her 57th birthday. She has received many birthday wishes from many people across the country but the special tribute on this wonderful day for Mrs. Obama comes from her husband, former president, Barack Obama.


As a recap of who is Michelle Obama and why she caused an impact in the country while she was a first lady, this writer will give a brief summary.


Who is Michelle Obama?


Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama was born in Chicago Illinois on January 17, 1964. She is an American attorney and author who served as First Lady of the United States from 2009-2017.


Also, she became the first African-American First Lady. She has an older brother, Craig Robinson.


She grew up on the South Side of Chicago and she graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. In the beginning of her career, she worked at the law firm Sidley Austin where she met her now husband. Moreover, she also worked in non-profits and had a role as the dean of Student Services in the University of Chicago. Additionally, she was the vice president for the Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center.


In 1991, Michelle held the position of the public sector at the Chicago City government as an assistant to the Mayor and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. Throughout the years, she continued working in different positions.


Her husband’s political campaign:


It is said that at first Michelle had her reserves on her husband’s presidential campaign due to the

fact that this could had a negative effect on their daughters. Mrs. Obama has stated that in exchange for her support of his decision to run for president. During her husband’s presidential campaign, she gave speeches about race and education by using motherhood as a framework.


To end, Mrs. Obama left a mark in the history of the United States because she did her role the best she could and she overcame criticism with strength.
