The apple comes in a variety of colors, flavors and shapes. Also, the apple can help reduce the

risk of cancer, obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other conditions.

Apples are rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, all which are good for health. It provides an

array of antioxidants, for example; Quercetin, Catechin, Phloridizin, and Chlorogenic acid. These

What are free radicals?


Free radicals are reactive molecules that can build up as a result of natural processes and

environmental pressures. If too many free radicals accumulate in the body, they can cause

oxidative stress and can lead to cell damage. The damage can be so big that it can cause a variety

Continuing with the topic, in a study done in 2000, looked on how eating apples over 28 years

affected the risk of stroke in 9,208 people. The authors found that those that ate the most apples

had a lower risk of thrombotic stroke. The apple contains a lot of nutrients and in a newer study

done in 2017, it was found that people who consume the most fiber appear to have a lower risk

of cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease and stroke.


What is the requirement for adults to consume apples?


The daily requirement for an adult depends on the age and sex. A medium sized apple around

three inches in diameter and weighing 182 grams provides 4.37 grams of fiber.
