On October 1, President Trump announced that he and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19. He also added that they had begun their quarantine process.

That same evening, it had been revealed that his adviser, Hope Hicks, had also tested positive. Many then suspected that the president also had caught the virus. These speculations were confirmed with his Tweet.

The next day, October 2, Trump was flown to a hospital. He boarded his helicopter and was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Trump wasn’t feeling bad, but he was taken to the hospital out of precaution. At the time, he was just showing mild symptoms of the disease.

Melania Trump was also feeling pretty well. She just had a “mild cough and headache”.

At the Hospital, Mr. Trump initiated remdevisir therapy (known to disrupt the virus’s ability to duplicate and cut the duration of symptoms). He also received an 8g dose of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail. This treatment, however, is still experimental and has not been approved yet. Many were surprised that the president received the treatment. (www.bbc.com)

After a three-night hospital stay, President Trump returned to the White House. He was still infected and contagious, but he would be receiving treatment at the White House. President Trump stood on the balcony and removed his mask while posing for pictures.

On October 14, Melania Trump published an essay detailing her experience with COVID-19. She also revealed that her fourteen year old son, Barron Trump, also contracted the virus. At first, he had tested Negative, but eventually tested Positive. Trump said he only had it for “a short period of time”.

Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis went viral and many doctors even shared their opinion on the case. Youtuber Mikhail Varshavski, most commonly known as Dr. Mike, said that the whole situation was “a disaster”. He condemned the media for their poor reporting and a lot of doctors who were wishing death on the president.

In conclusion, the diagnosis may have been shocking to many Americans, and many people have different opinions on it. The country will have to wait and see if this affects the election results in November.
