College Board Opportunity Scholarships: How can I apply for them?

The College Board Opportunity Scholarships and Recognition Program launched on December 4, 2019. It is designed to reward and celebrate the effort students put when applying to college. They have 6 Key Steps for Juniors and Seniors. These steps also have individual scholarships that are given out every month from January to July. The steps are Build Your College List, Practice for the SAT, Improve your Scores, Strengthen Your College List, Complete the FAFSA, and Apply to Colleges. If steps 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 are completed, students will also be eligible for a $40,000 scholarship.


Who's Eligible?


To be eligible for the scholarship, students must attend a public, private, or home school located within the U.S. or U.S. Territories. Students must've been in their Junior or Senior year of high school by December 1, 2019. They should also have a College Board online account.


How to Enter


To enter, students must create a College Board account or link their current account to cb.org/opportunity. They should complete one or more of the steps mentioned above. Participants may not try to obtain more than one entry or they will be disqualified.


Prizes


Prizes will vary depending on the steps that are completed. There are seven total scholarships:


Scholarship 1: Build Your College List = $500 dollars, 50 winners


Scholarship 2: Practice for the SAT = $1000 dollars, 75 winners


Scholarship 3: Improve your Scores = $2000 dollars, 25 winners


Scholarship 4: Strengthen Your College List = $500 dollars, 50 winners


Scholarship 5: Complete the FAFSA winners = $500 dollars, 50 winners


Scholarship 6: Apply to Colleges = $1000 dollars, 250 winners


Scholarship 7: Complete your Journey = $40,000 dollars, 12 winners
